We are seeking an experienced and technically capable Billable Works Manager to oversee and deliver a range of minor works projects—typically valued at under £25k—across Defence establishments. This pivotal role combines technical expertise, project management, and customer engagement to ensure the timely, compliant, and cost-effective delivery of works that support the operational readiness of the MOD estate.
Key Responsibilities of the Billable Works Manager
- Take full ownership of project delivery from initial scoping through to completion.
- Ensure all works comply with JSP 375 and other statutory and Defence regulations.
- Act as Temporary Works Coordinator and fulfil CDM Principal Designer/Principal Contractor duties as required.
- Identify and deliver opportunities to improve energy efficiency and sustainability across the estate.
- Prepare Statements of Need (SONs) and manage F-Gas and waste compliance.
- Act as the single point of contact (SPOC) for end users, ensuring clear understanding of operational priorities.
- Manage the resolution of customer issues and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders.
- Oversee subcontractor performance, ensuring works are delivered safely, on time, and to specification.
What You’ll Bring
- Proven experience in project delivery and hard services facilities management within the MOD or a similarly regulated environment.
- Strong understanding of CDM regulations, asbestos management, and energy performance standards.
- Qualification in a relevant electrical or mechanical engineering discipline (ONC/BTEC or equivalent experience).
- Technical training in Asbestos Awareness, Legionella Control, Fire Safety, and Emergency First Aid.
- Strong commitment to safety, quality, and compliance, promoting proactive risk management.
- Excellent relationship management and communication skills, with the ability to mentor, manage contractors, and foster teamwork.
- Organised and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Familiarity with CAFM systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across Defence sites.
- Ability to achieve SC Clearance.
