Industrial & Commercial Refrigeration Service Engineer (North)Location: North of England (North East & North West)

About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Industrial & Commercial Refrigeration Service Engineer to join our clients dynamic team. This role involves delivering top-tier maintenance and service support across various customer sites, including food factories, Regional Distribution Centres (RDCs), and warehouses. You’ll ensure refrigeration systems operate at peak efficiency, providing clients with exceptional service and technical expertise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform planned maintenance and service visits on refrigeration systems, including Recip, Scroll, and Screw compressor packs, using Ammonia, CO2, and HFC/HFO refrigerants.
  • Respond to reactive breakdowns with expert solutions to minimise downtime.
  • Participate in an on-call standby rota to support emergency out-of-hours work.
  • Ensure all work complies with internal quality standards, industry best practices, and legislative requirements.
  • Demonstrate commercial awareness while maintaining adherence to company processes.
  • Offer diagnostic and fault-finding expertise for large central plant installations, working with brands such as Grasso, Sabroe, J&E Hall, GEA, and Mycom.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Proven experience in the industrial refrigeration engineering sector.
  • Certifications such as 2079 Refrigerant Handling, ACRIB, and Ammonia Safety Training.
  • Completion of a recognised apprenticeship or equivalent training in Industrial Refrigeration.
  • Strong diagnostic skills for medium to large refrigeration systems.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of maintenance and service practices for central plant equipment.


Overtime & On-Call Pay:

  • Overtime: 1.5x weekdays, 2x weekends, plus a day in lieu for bank holidays worked.
  • Standby: £15 per day and £50 on bank holidays.
