Mainstay Recruitment is proud to be working in partnership with a well-established and quality-driven powder coating business to recruit an experienced Electrical Maintenance Engineer. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled electrical professional to join a fast-paced, hands-on manufacturing environment, where technical expertise and practical problem-solving are key.
The Role
Working within a busy production facility, you will be responsible for maintaining a range of electrical systems and supporting mechanical maintenance where required. This role is focused on ensuring maximum uptime of critical equipment, particularly across powder coating lines and associated plant machinery.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform both planned and reactive maintenance on site-wide electrical systems
- Diagnose faults using technical drawings, schematics, and systematic fault-finding techniques
- Carry out basic PLC fault finding and resets (Allen-Bradley experience preferred)
- Assist with mechanical tasks such as fitting pumps, solenoid valves, motors, conveyors, and ovens
- Maintain and troubleshoot gas burner systems
- Minimise downtime through swift and effective maintenance interventions
- Accurately document all maintenance activities and contribute to continuous improvement projects
- Ensure compliance with all health & safety and regulatory standards
Required Experience and Skills
- Recognised electrical qualification (NVQ Level 3, HNC, or equivalent)
- Significant experience in industrial, manufacturing, or production environments
- Strong ability to interpret complex electrical diagrams, wiring schematics, and control circuits
- Working knowledge of components such as contactors, MCBs, I/O cards, inverters, and soft starters
- Practical experience with PLC systems (Allen-Bradley preferred) for fault identification and resets
- Basic mechanical aptitude to support general maintenance and equipment fitting
- Proactive approach with excellent fault-finding and problem-solving capabilities
Desirable (Not Essential)
- 17th or 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
- Previous experience with powder coating, painting, or finishing processes
- Familiarity with compressed air systems or automated conveyors
- Experience working with gas burner systems
- Exposure to lean manufacturing, TPM, or continuous improvement principles
