Billable Works Manager – MOD Estate
Location: Bovington Camp, Dorset Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm Type: Permanent Salary: Up to £44,000 (Depending on Experience) Mainstay Recruitment is working on behalf of a key facilities management provider delivering services across the UK Defence estate. We are currently recruiting for a Billable Works Manager to join a high-performing team at Bovington Camp to manage reactive and planned maintenance projects. The Opportunity
In this position, you will oversee the delivery of billable works – from minor refurbishments to more complex reactive maintenance projects – in line with MOD standards and Joint Service Publication (JSP) 375. You’ll ensure compliance with all technical, regulatory, and safety requirements, working closely with Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) representatives, Heads of Establishment, and Authorised Persons.
You will also:
• Act as Temporary Works Coordinator and, depending on the project, take on CDM Principal Designer and Principal Contractor roles.
• Identify and initiate energy efficiency projects by preparing Statements of Need (SONs).
• Manage compliance with FGas, waste management regulations, and other MOD- specific safety policies.
• Provide technical guidance and act as a key point of contact for end-users and internal stakeholders.
• Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and in line with client expectations.
• Contribute to strategic objectives and ensure alignment with wider estate goals.
• Lead and mentor teams and service partners to encourage collaboration and continuous improvement.
What We’re Looking For
This role is ideal for a reactive or planned maintenance supervisor looking to take the next step in their career within the MOD environment.
We’re looking for candidates with:
• ONC/BTEC or equivalent in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or demonstrable practical experience).
• Strong background in project delivery within the MOD or similar regulated environments.
• Working knowledge of CDM Regulations, asbestos legislation, and energy/waste compliance.
• Experience in managing and reporting on multiple concurrent projects.
• Familiarity with CAFM systems and solid IT competency.
• Desirable: SMSTS or equivalent H&S qualification, first aid, asbestos and legionella awareness.
• A full driving licence is highly beneficial.
