Health and Safety Advisor

Job title: Control of Works within an Facilities Management team
Location: Based in Sunbury, some travel maybe required to other bp locations such as London
Salary: £44,000 – £53,000 (realistic OTE dependent on experience) 
Hours: Office hours Monday – Friday – Willingness to work some weekends will be required.

Mainstay Recruitment are currently looking for a Clerk Of Works for our client based in Sunbury, North London. This role will be reporting to the Senior Control of Works within the engineering team. The role will be to manage the safety of all works across site, to issue permits for disciplines including hot works, working at height, excavation etc, provide health and safety guidance to the technical, facilities and project teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor all high and low risk activities carried out on site where they will be required to liaise with contractors, project managers, engineering, and soft services team.
  • Building permits on the electronic permit system.
  • Issuing permits for high-risk activities such as working at height, ground disturbance, hot works etc
  • Reviewing Risk Assessments and Method Statements providing comments back to work owners and contractors.
  • Writing Risk Assessments and Method Statements for the engineering team.
  • Liaising with contractors and work owners on a daily basis.
  • Conducting daily work safety audits.
  • Undertaking regular job-related training such as management of work at heights, hot works, management of confined spaces etc.
  • Working with a team of 2 other control of works

 
Candidate requirements:

  • Very good understanding of health and safety regulations and guidance for disciplines such as working at heights, hot works, lifting operations etc
  • Ability to work in a team.
  • Comfortable engaging with clients, contractors, senior management etc
  • Proficient in IT skills such as word, Smartsheet and excel
  • IOSH passed within the last 2 years
  • Preferred – Previously issued high risk permits such as working at height, hot works etc
  • Preferred IPAF, PASMA
  • Must be open to working weekends – 1 in 4 (paid at overtime rate)
