Electrical Maintenance Engineer
Coventry
Shift Pattern: 06:00 to 16:00, Monday to Friday (Days)

Mainstay Recruitment is pleased to be working in partnership with a highly respected and long-established powder coating and metal finishing company based in Coventry. Due to continued investment in plant reliability and performance, the business is now seeking a qualified and experienced Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join its dedicated engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on engineer with strong electrical fault-finding skills and experience within a manufacturing or industrial setting. Candidates with a working knowledge of PLC systems, particularly Siemens or Allen-Bradley, are particularly encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance and respond to breakdowns across the site’s electrical systems
  • Diagnose faults and carry out minor programming or resets on PLC-controlled machinery
  • Support mechanical repairs and inspections, including work on motors, conveyors, pneumatic systems, and industrial ovens
  • Work closely with the production team to minimise downtime and maintain continuous operation, particularly on powder coating lines
  • Accurately document maintenance activity and contribute to plant improvement initiatives
  • Ensure all work is carried out in line with health and safety legislation and internal procedures

Required Skills and Experience

  • Recognised electrical qualification, such as NVQ Level 3, HNC, or equivalent
  • Previous experience in an industrial, manufacturing, or production environment
  • Ability to fault-find and reset PLC systems, with a preference for experience in Siemens or Allen-Bradley
  • Basic mechanical knowledge, with confidence in working on moving machinery
  • A proactive and reliable approach to maintenance and engineering support

Desirable but Not Essential

  • 17th or 18th Edition Wiring Regulations certification
  • Experience in powder coating, painting, or industrial finishing environments
  • Familiarity with automated conveyor systems or compressed air controls
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing, TPM, or other improvement methodologies
