Job Overview:
The Electrical Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of electrical systems and equipment within our facilities. You will perform regular maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair work to minimise downtime and ensure the highest standards of safety and performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform scheduled and emergency maintenance on electrical systems, plant rooms, and equipment.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electrical faults across various systems, including power distribution, lighting and control systems.
- Carry out inspections and testing of electrical installations to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
- Ensure that all electrical equipment is maintained in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions and company procedures.
- Assist with the installation and commissioning of new electrical systems and equipment.
- Keep accurate records of all maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections.
- Work closely with the facilities management team to improve the operational efficiency of the electrical systems.
- Identify and report potential safety hazards, and suggest improvements to avoid operational risks.
- Maintain knowledge of and comply with relevant health and safety regulations, codes of practice, and best practices.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
- 18th Edition or NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or equivalent qualification.
- 3+ years of experience in electrical maintenance, preferably in an industrial or commercial setting.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, circuits, and components.
- Familiarity with electrical testing and diagnostic equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Experience with emergency response and fault diagnosis is desirable.
- Full UK driving license is preferred.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Desirable Skills:
- Electrical inspection and testing certification (e.g., 2391).
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, such as the 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations.
- First Aid training is an advantage.
