Contract Type: Permanent, Full-time
Salary: up to £42,000

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and driven Billable Works Manager to oversee the professional delivery of projects across Defence accommodation and facilities. In this key role, you will ensure all works are completed safely, on time, to specification, and in full compliance with statutory, mandatory, and contractual standards.

You’ll take ownership of managing supply chain performance, driving excellence against key metrics, and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders – including the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO), end users, and on-site representatives.

As the single point of contact (SPOC) for end users, you’ll provide expert technical advice, resolve issues promptly, and ensure the highest levels of customer satisfaction. You will also support the development of new work requirements, preparing and managing formal project submissions for Additional Works.

This is a hands-on leadership role that requires balancing operational delivery with technical oversight, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and deliver a variety of billable works projects, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Oversee the performance of supply chain partners, ensuring projects are delivered efficiently and to specification.
  • Act as the main point of contact for clients and end users, providing technical guidance and swift issue resolution.
  • Work closely with the Helpdesk to provide technical advice and support complaint resolution.
  • Ensure effective site supervision, statutory compliance, and adherence to all health and safety requirements (including JSP 375).
  • Lead and motivate teams, promoting best practices and continuous improvement.
  • Monitor and report on project progress, budgets, and performance indicators.

What You’ll Bring

  • HNC (or equivalent) in Building, Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering, or significant time-served technical experience.
  • Management-level Health & Safety qualification (e.g., SMSTS).
  • Strong background in construction, property maintenance, or facilities management.
  • Solid understanding of CDM Regulations, Asbestos at Work, DDA, and sustainability standards.
  • Proven experience supervising operations, managing contractors, and engaging stakeholders.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and decision-making skills.
  • Full UK driving licence and the ability to pass SC Clearance.

Experience working within Ministry of Defence estates or a similar secure environment would be advantageous.

What’s on Offer

  • 6% employer-matched pension contribution
  • 25 days annual leave
  • Life assurance (2x annual salary)
  • Single private medical cover
  • Use of a pool car for work-related travel

If you’re a proactive and technically minded leader who takes pride in delivering safe, efficient, and high-quality projects, we’d love to hear from you.

Apply now to take on a pivotal role in shaping and maintaining critical Defence infrastructure.
