Multi-Skilled Engineer (Electrical Bias)

Salary – Up to £43,500

Mainstay Recruitment are is seeking a skilled and versatile Multi-Skilled Engineer with an electrical bias on behalf of our client a national hard services, Facilities Management business. The role will be based in Canary Wharf area, one of London’s most iconic business districts. This role offers the chance to work on prestigious client sites, maintaining and repairing critical infrastructure in a fast-paced, professional environment.

Role Purpose

To carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive repairs on mechanical and electrical equipment, as well as building fabric, within a corporate service environment.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Utilize your electrical expertise while maintaining knowledge of HVAC, building services (water, gas, heating, ventilation, waste), and BMS monitoring systems.
  • Perform PPMs and respond to reactive maintenance requests.
  • Exhibit a flexible, proactive attitude to deliver a customer-focused service, including tasks outside your core skill set.
  • Manage and maintain computer-based and hard-copy systems for statutory inspections and testing.
  • Participate in the on-call system and work across multiple sites as required.
  • Plan and prioritize tasks from PPMs and Helpdesk Requests.
  • Respond to breakdowns and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Vet quotations, safe system paperwork, and issue permits and authorities to work.
  • Ensure quality control of PPM activities and provide technical and situational reports.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships at all levels.
  • Assist in training and development of team members through personal development reviews.
  • Attend client and subcontractor meetings, offering technical support and producing quotations for extra works.
  • Actively contribute to health, safety, and environmental compliance, including accident investigations and risk assessments.
  • Manage materials and equipment in accordance with safety regulations.
  • Perform other duties as instructed by management.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in the Building Services industry.
  • C&G Parts 1 & 2 in electrical/mechanical or equivalent.
  • 17th or 18th Edition IEE Wiring and Installation certification.
  • Strong communication skills, capable of managing staff and handling challenging situations.
  • Proficiency in operating and investigating CAFM systems.
