About the Role
Mainstay Recruitment are seeking an experienced Small Works Project Manager with a strong technical background in facilities management, maintenance, and project delivery for our prestigious client. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering high-quality, compliant maintenance and small works projects within a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
As a Small Works Project Manager, you will:
• Oversee the effective, compliant, and timely delivery of maintenance and response works
• Ensure all activities meet statutory and Ministry of Defence (MoD) requirements
• Monitor and manage supply chain performance, ensuring value for money and high standards of quality and safety
• Review Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS)
• Ensure compliance with asbestos and legionella management plans
• Act as the single point of contact (SPOC) for end-user issues
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) and contractors
• Manage technical queries and complaints in a professional and timely manner
• Oversee cost control, commercial performance, and forward maintenance planning
• Identify risks and drive efficiencies across multiple sites
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
• A Level 4 Facilities Management qualification or equivalent technical experience
• Proven experience in facilities operations, including planned and reactive maintenance
• Experience managing small works or projects
• Strong knowledge of Safe Systems of Work (e.g. working at height, confined spaces, asbestos, legionella)
• Demonstrated ability to manage teams and contractor performance
• Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills
• Strong commercial awareness and problem-solving ability
• A proactive, adaptable approach with the ability to manage multiple priorities
Desirable:
• HNC (or equivalent) in Building, Mechanical, or Facilities Management
• Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. IWFM)

• Ability to pass and maintain SC Clearance
