Our Client based in West Bromwich require an Van Driver to start a 13 week temporary to permanent agreement for immediate start. Experience with delivering glass is preferreed but not essential. Deliveries cover nationally; this includes London once per week. Maximum number of deliveries are X10 per shift (the normal/regular amount is X8). On occasions a driver’s mate may be needed when the shift consists of heavy handball. Drivers need to physically be able to carry large panes of glass at each delivery point (technique is important). Around 70% of the deliveries are to factory’s, 20% are to development sites, 10% are to residential homes. The driver must be comfortable with using PDA scanner, this is used at each delivery and when completing vehicle checks. Safe parking is avaialble on site along with excellent facilities.

Shift Pattern

  • Monday to Friday. Start times are usually at 07:00 (however the start time can be at the discretion of the driver). Finish time is ordinarily at around 15:30…. Although recently it’s been at 17:00.
  • Saturday shifts are available occasionally (these are not compulsory)

Van Driver Pay Rates when working through Mainstay Recruitment 

  • Monday to Friday £12.50 p/h PAYE or £14.00 p/h holiday pay included, up to 40 hours per week, £18.75 p/h PAYE, £20.25 p/h holiday pay included, this is after 40 hours worked Monday to Friday.
  • Saturday is paid at time and half after working 40 hours during the week.

Pay Rates when full-time (after successfully completing 13 weeks) 

  • Van drivers, £12.80 p/h up to 40 hours per week, £19.20 p/h after 40 hours worked Monday to Friday
  • Saturday is paid at time and half after working 40 hours during the week.
