Opportunity
We’re looking for an experienced Mobile M&E Engineer to support the safe and effective delivery of facilities management services across RAF Waddington and surrounding sites. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically capable Electrical Engineer to take on a varied, multi site role within the defence sector, providing technical guidance, supporting site teams and helping maintain high standards of safety, compliance and operational delivery across the MOD estate. You’ll play an important role in ensuring work is completed in line with JSP375 and MOD Safe Systems of Work, while supporting continuous improvement and contributing to wider carbon reduction objectives. Working across multiple sites, you’ll provide technical support and guidance to site teams, skilled personnel, supply chain partners and end users. You’ll help ensure maintenance activities and project works are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with contractual requirements and relevant regulations. The role combines technical oversight with practical problem solving, competency assessment and staff supervision. You’ll also work closely with the Senior Management Team, identifying potential risks and compliance issues while helping drive improvements in estate safety and service delivery.
Responsibilities
Support the delivery of contractual obligations, ensuring maintenance and operational activities meet the required safety, quality and compliance standards.
- Apply and advise on JSP375 and MOD Safe Systems of Work, ensuring procedures are followed across all sites.
- Produce and review Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) to support safe working practices.
- Assess the competence of Skilled Persons, providing supervision, coaching and guidance to ensure work is carried out safely and in accordance with relevant requirements.
- Provide technical advice and support to site teams, supply chain partners, end users and other stakeholders.
- Support project delivery, helping to minimise corrective actions and maintain high standards of technical performance.
- Identify deficiencies, risks and potential compliance issues that could affect estate safety, escalating concerns to the Senior Management Team where appropriate.
- Build effective working relationships with colleagues, clients and stakeholders to support smooth operational delivery.
- Identify opportunities to improve maintenance practices, operational efficiency and the MOD estate’s carbon reduction performance.
- Travel between sites as required and participate in the out of hours on call rota.
What We’re Looking For
- A fully qualified Electrical Engineer with a Level 3 qualification.
- Significant practical experience working with Safe Systems of Work, particularly the management and operational delivery of JSP375.
- Experience supervising site operations, managing resources and providing leadership or technical guidance to staff.
- A strong understanding of electrical safety, maintenance procedures and compliance requirements within a technical or facilities management environment.
- The ability to assess competence, identify risks and make sound technical decisions.
- A proactive, organised approach, with the confidence to work independently across multiple sites.
- A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between locations.
- The ability to obtain and maintain Security Check (SC) clearance.
- Authorised Person (AP) qualifications
Existing Electrical or Mechanical AP tickets would be advantageous but are not essential. If you do not currently hold the relevant AP qualifications, training can be provided, with an additional £1,000 payable for each AP ticket obtained during the fixed term contract.
What’s on Offer
- Salary of up to £43,000, plus a car allowance.
- 12 month fixed term contract.
- 6% employer pension contribution, matched to your contributions.
- 25 days annual leave.
- Single cover private medical insurance.
- Support towards nationally recognised qualifications and career development.
- The opportunity to develop your AP qualifications, with an additional £1,000 for each AP ticket obtained during the contract.
If you’re an experienced Electrical Engineer looking to build on your technical expertise, develop your AP credentials and take on a role supporting the MOD estate, we’d be keen to hear from you.
