We are currently looking for a Plumber to cover the Bristol area, frequently travelling to family residences between Lyneham and Warminster.

You will be responsible for fitting, maintaining, and repairing the plumbing of residential housing. You will be assigned and scheduled your tasks by PDA and you will be able to start at home and then proceed to your jobs in the works van provided. This role will see you fitting baths, showers, taps, heated towel rails, drains, pipes and tanks, along with maintaining and repairing as required.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Install supports for pipes, equipment, and fixtures prior to installation.
  • To undertake a continual programme of risk assessment in relation to your role.
  • Modifies the length of pipes, fixtures and other plumbing materials as needed for a building.
  • Use saws and pipe cutters as necessary.
  • Test plumbing systems for leaks and other problems.
  • Perform inspection of plumbing systems to identify and replace worn parts.
  • Assemble pipe sections, tubing and fittings, using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement, plastic solvent, caulking or soldering, brazing and welding.
  • Fill pipes or plumbing fixtures with water or air and observe pressure gauges to detect and locate leaks.
  • Perform complex planning of large jobs.
  • Cut openings in structures to accommodate pipes and pipe fittings, using hand and power tools.
  • Repair and maintain plumbing, replacing defective washers, replacing or mending boking pipes and opening clogged drains.
  • Hang steel supports from ceiling joists to hold pipes in place.
  • Attend training as and when required to continue your development in the role and comply with changes within the industry.
  • Attend team briefs, toolbox talks and technical bulletins on a monthly basis (or as when required).
  • Utilise both electronic and paper-based systems to accurately record documentation including the use of materials against each job.
  • To mentor apprentices as and when required.
  • Maintain van stocks and provide information enabling the improvements of ‘right-first-time’ fixes.
  • Ensure all H&S documentation (RAMS) are present prior to engaging the task .

What you’ll need to do this role

  • An NVQ Level 1 or 2 in Plumbing.
  • Experience as a qualified plumber.
  • Be able to work independently.
  • It is desirable that you have experience in domestic plumbing.
  • This role will require you to travel to remote sites weekly therefore it is essential that you hold a clean and valid UK driving licence or can travel to remote locations without the use of public transport.
  • You must be able to pass SC clearance to be considered for this role.
