Advance Your Career in a High-Security, High-Impact Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled Mechanical or Electrical Engineer to join a critical infrastructure team at RAF Menwith Hill. Based within the secure Operations Technical Compound (OTC), you’ll work in the Facilities Control Centre (FCC) to ensure essential systems remain operational around the clock. This role offers clear progression: if you’re not already an Authorised Person (AP), the client is committed to upskilling the right candidate. Whether your background is electrical or mechanical, this is an excellent opportunity to become an AP in your discipline — with full support and structured development provided.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work as part of a 24/7 shift team, reporting to the Facilities Watch Officer (FWO) Shift Manager
- Use a Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to monitor infrastructure and utility performance
- Coordinate internal teams and external contractors to resolve system faults and maintain SOP compliance
- Assess planned maintenance effectiveness and recommend improvements
- Support the creation and review of Engineering Operating Procedures (EOPs)
- Manage emergency stock and generator fuel levels; process orders in accordance with site procedures
- Contribute to emergency planning and station-wide training exercises
- Act as the AP for Electrical systems (or support Mechanical/Pressure systems) — with full training provided if required
- Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with MOD Safe Systems of Work
- Monitor BMS and SCADA interfaces for performance issues and faults
- Maintain accurate, auditable records of all engineering activities and system changes
Essential Requirements:
- ONC or Level 3 NVQ (or equivalent) in a relevant Mechanical or Electrical Engineering discipline
- At least 3 years’ professional experience in a relevant environment
- Emergency First Aid at Work certification
- Valid UK Category B driving licence
- Strong computer literacy, including Microsoft Office and maintenance management systems
- Willingness to work towards AP (Authorised Person) status in Electrical or Mechanical systems — full training and support provided
Desirable:
- EngTech registration (or working towards it)
- Previous experience in MOD or secure environments
- Knowledge of MOD procedures and Safe Systems of Work
Security Clearance:
Due to the secure nature of this role, candidates must be UK or US nationals and able to obtain and maintain Developed Vetting (DV) Enhanced Security Clearance.
