We are seeking an experienced and proactive Electrical Technical Services Manager to provide specialist leadership, technical expertise, and operational oversight across all aspects of electrical maintenance. This role ensures the safe, compliant, and efficient delivery of both planned and reactive maintenance activities.
As the technical authority for electrical systems, you will support maintenance teams, contractors, and stakeholders by offering professional advice, clear direction, and robust supervision to guarantee service excellence and statutory compliance.
You will oversee a team of Maintenance Engineers working across mechanical, electrical, and building fabric systems, taking particular accountability for electrical systems, plant, and equipment. Working closely with the Maintenance Manager and Supervisors, you will contribute to the development of maintenance strategies, planned programmes, and process improvements — ensuring that all activities meet regulatory standards and performance targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support maintenance teams in the safe and compliant delivery of electrical works.
- Manage external contractors, ensuring projects meet specifications, KPIs, and contractual obligations.
- Oversee commissioning, handovers, O&M manuals, staff training, and updates to asset registers and PPM schedules.
- Fulfil responsibilities as Duty Holder, Authorised, Responsible, or Competent Person for electrical systems.
- Maintain strong health and safety standards, reviewing and approving RAMS, ensuring compliance with HSE, JSP 375, and company procedures.
- Ensure accurate records and documentation are maintained through CAFM systems.
- Review inspection reports and certification, raise remedial works, and ensure timely completion of statutory actions.
- Mentor apprentices, deliver toolbox talks, and support the professional development of team members.
- Drive a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement within the maintenance team.
What You’ll Bring
- 18th Edition electrical qualification (essential).
- Demonstrable experience in EICR testing and inspection.
- Strong understanding of health and safety legislation, including COSHH and RIDDOR.
- Proven experience managing contractors within maintenance or construction environments.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Strong IT skills.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and report-writing skills.
- Experience in programming works, allocating workloads, and leading maintenance teams.
Desirable:
- Experience with lightning and cathodic protection systems.
- First aid accreditation or formal health and safety qualification.
- Membership of a professional engineering body.
- Experience working within MOD or secure environments (SC clearance advantageous).
