We are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer or HVAC Engineer for a site based in the Pucklechurch area near Bristol. In this essential role, you’ll help ensure the site remains safe, compliant, and fully operational. From preventative maintenance to urgent repairs, your work will directly contribute to the smooth running of the prison and the wellbeing of all who live and work there.
What you’ll be doing
As a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer / HVAC Engineer you will be responsible the following jobs:
- Carry out routine mechanical and HVAC maintenance, inspections, and repairs.
- Diagnose faults and complete effective, timely rectifications.
- Support FM colleagues with multi-trade tasks where necessary (e.g., plumbing).
- Install new plant and equipment as required.
- Escort contractors on-site in line with security procedures.
- Investigate performance issues with plant and equipment and produce reports and recommendations.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records for all maintenance tasks.
- Comply with all health & safety procedures.
- Participate in a call-out rota and occasional weekend work.
What you’ll need
- A recognised qualification in HVAC and/or Mechanical Engineering (e.g., NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds).
- At least 3 years of post-qualification experience.
- A collaborative mindset with a flexible, proactive approach.
- Commitment to delivering high standards and continuous improvement.
- Membership of a relevant professional body (desirable).
