Technical Sales Manager
Salary: £40,000 – £65,000 (DOE) | Global Role | Hybrid Working
Head Office – Redditch
An established, engineering led manufacturer is looking to appoint a Technical Sales Manager to help drive growth across global markets. This is a rare opportunity to join a small, close knit team where you’ll have real influence, direct access to senior leadership, and the freedom to run your own patch.
This is a highly autonomous role with no staff management responsibilities. You’ll be trusted to manage your own time, customers, and workload, focusing purely on delivering commercial results rather than people management or internal politics.
The Role
As Technical Sales Manager, you’ll be responsible for developing new business, re-engaging lapsed customers, and strengthening existing relationships worldwide. You’ll represent the business professionally at client sites, exhibitions, and industry events, acting as a trusted technical and commercial partner.
This is a genuinely global role, with international travel typically planned well in advance and averaging around one overseas trip per month. Travel is structured and organised – never dropped on you last minute — allowing you to plan effectively and maintain balance.
You’ll work independently day-to-day, while benefiting from regular input and support from company directors when needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and grow relationships with new, existing, and lapsed customers
- Own the full sales cycle: prospecting, visits, quotations, negotiation, and follow-up
- Prepare accurate estimates, quotations, and proposals
- Negotiate pricing, delivery, and quality within agreed parameters
- Attend international exhibitions and conferences (typically ~5 per year)
- Visit customers globally to understand requirements and support projects
- Produce concise visit reports and contribute to sales forecasts
- Collaborate with technical colleagues and directors to support projects
- Drive profitability and long-term business growth
(This role does not involve managing or supervising staff.)
What Makes This Role Different
- Autonomous position with real trust and responsibility
- No line management — focus fully on sales and customer relationships
- Small team environment (circa 3 people) with direct access to directors
- Flat salary structure — no commission pressure, emphasis on long-term value
- Hybrid working available (1–2 days per week in the office), with significant time spent visiting customers
- Traditional, relationship-led business — no rigid CRM system, but open to introducing better tools with the right input
- Opportunity to grow influence within the business without taking on people management
A company car may be introduced in the future, linked to performance and progression.
