We are currently recruiting for a Bookkeeper on a part-time basis, for our well-established client based in Oxford. As a Bookkeeper, you will be involved with surface-level accounting for the business and will have previous experience in a similar role.

Responsibilities include:

  • Recording transactions income and outgoing, posting them to ledgers on Sage accounts.
  • Processing payments.
  • Conducting daily banking activities.
  • Producing various financial reports.
  • Reconciling reports to third-party records such as bank statements.
  • Preparing employee wages.
  • Managing employee expense claims.
  • Helping the Finance Manager with administrative duties and preparing yearly accounts.
  • Completing VAT returns.
  • Maintaining the company’s financials for the Apprenticeship Levy Scheme.

The successful Bookkeeper will have:

  • Must be able to hold an SC Security Clearance.
  • Good attention to detail to enter correct data into financial records and recognise errors.
  • Mathematics skills for accurate record-keeping.
  • Administrative skills for filing financial records.
  • Computer literacy, especially familiarity with spreadsheets, and accounting software such as Microsoft Office, Excel, and Sage.
  • Multi-tasking and organisational skills to manage different financial duties, including the ability to prioritise tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Interpersonal and customer service skills for dealing with customers, suppliers, and other employees in the company.
  • Communication skills, including the ability to explain complex financial matters in accessible terms.
  • To be honest, discreet, and trustworthy.
  • Ideally qualified to AAT Bookkeeping level.
